We are looking for a veterinary surgeon to join our established team in this single-site small animal veterinary hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working in a team of dedicated and motivated colleagues who provide a clinically advanced, personal service for their clients and their pets. Our experienced team can support you whether you are a new graduate or an experienced vet moving on to the next level or wishing to follow special interests. This includes support for certificate studies and special interest support for more experienced candidates.
As a busy first opinion practice we see a varied caseload, undertake referrals in internal medicine, laparoscopy, radiology, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, acupuncture and we have equipment to support oncology, surgical (soft tissue and orthopaedic), diagnostic imaging and medical services, offering opportunities for progression in a number of areas according to interest.
Enthusiasm for general clinical veterinary practice is essential. Our success reflects our good diagnostic work-up and treatment, communication and client care. We operate our own on-call service with resident nurses who take the phones. The rota is equally shared between 7 full-time vets and one part-time vet and we work an average 4.5 day week. We offer 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays, and salary according to experience, skill level and support required.
Our high specification of both facilities and equipment help us support professional development, and we have an excellent track record for developing recent graduates with vets in the practice having successfully gained certificates. We have 4 certificate holders – in medicine, emergency and critical care and ophthalmology and one Advanced Practitioner in medicine. Agreed CPD is funded with a generous budget. You can expect to be treated with respect, and have a full say in management decisions as well as be supported in your development towards the improvement of our services. We share expertise day to day in ward rounds, case reflection meetings and at regular in-house training sessions.
We want to enjoy our work and our relationship with our clients and their pets. We also love the Norfolk coast, countryside and culture!
We have comprehensive library and training facilities, a comfortable vets office and library and a wide range of equipment and resources, as detailed elsewhere on our website.
We also have –
- 14 qualified and experienced RVNs , 6 student nurses and 2 Patient Care Assistants to help with it all
- 4 admin staff to offer administrative support including completing your insurance forms and minute meetings etc.
- Lab and referral reports attached to records, PACS system for radiography (including dental) and ultrasound, internet in all areas and easy access to information.
- A very loyal client base who appreciate good quality veterinary care and our friendly approach.
We would like to share all of this with like-minded people who want to develop their own clinical skills and expertise and help us develop the practice. Every vet offers a full 1st opinion service, but we also make good use of internal referral and case discussion.
