The Surgery - Laboratory |

We
have a wide range of facilities within the Laboratory Most importantly,
our high quality lab equipment allows us to perform in-house examinations of blood, skin
and urine, rather than having to send samples away. This allows us to offer all pets the
opportunity of having pre-anaesthetic blood screens to check the function of the liver,
kidneys, bone marrow cell production, and many others on the morning of their operations. Our diagnostic machinery is quality
controlled externally, so you can be sure of an accurate result.
Urinary Crystals can be a painful and distressing
cause of cystitis in cats and dogs, and can go on to develop bladder stones. Our regular
urine screens help detect such problems early on.
In emergency cases, we can often have results of laboratory tests back within minutes,
which can make a crucial difference in the treatment of critical patients.
We are also able to examine skin scrapings and pluckings, needle
aspirate cell samples, and
many others. We routinely also perform geriatric and general health screens on our
patients, to help early detection of diseases of older pets including kidney and liver
disease. Please contact the surgery if you would like to receive more information about
these tests - we are happy to send information through the post.
